To start with, the delivery estimate should be at least 2-4 weeks instead of 1-3 weeks, so be prepared for a little wait. We would have received it around that time frame, but upon inspection before shipping out, the table was discovered to be damaged. We received a call letting us know and were given the option to wait longer for another item to come in, cancel outright for refund, or shop around to see if there was an alternative item/color we wanted and we could decide up until they received the replacement to let them know. To us, this is all a positive and See More +
demonstrates the proactive communication we received during the entire process. We couldn't find a replacement so ended up getting the followup call that the replacement was ready and we confirmed shipping.
Shipping came to a local agency that was also helpful with contacting the driver to advise us through out the day of their schedule so we know when they would arrive. They did, unloaded the crate curbside (don't expect it to come into the house unless you got the white glove) and was kind enough to wheel it into the garage to avoid the coming rain. Inspected the packaging and everything was very thoughtfully wrapped. Extra padded cardboard pieces around all the edges, steel banding to hold it all in place and plastic wrapping around the entire set of boxes. This wasn't going to get damaged unless it fell off the truck!
Got them inside, opened them up and the individual pieces were equally well wrapped and packaged. There were no instructions except for a piece of paper with pictures. There were no labels on the pieces to match to the pictures. The table itself was very straight forward, two bottom pieces, legs and a top. Simple enough. The chairs, however had several different pieces for the leg support. Laying them all out and carefully inspecting them we realized there were short and long pieces, same with the screws and once we got the first set of chairs (there are 2 in each box and we got 4 boxes to total 8 chairs) it was a breeze to complete the rest.
Table was complete, chairs are complete and we put the included leaf in the table. It's a wonderful, slightly off white (it's white, but not bright white, maybe a hint of creme) distressed and feels real good. You can tell the wood pieces and with all the monster screws and bolts provided to put it together, it's a very good solid piece of furniture that will last a very long time.
Don't use power tools (or even a socket wrench) unless you do so to get the bolts mostly in. Then finish them off gently paying attention to the depth they go in. I noticed that using a socket wrench the bolt would continue going very easily way past where I should have stopped. Was thankful to catch that on the very first bolt. Same with the wood screws. Drill them in almost all the way and then finish them off with a regular fillips screwdriver. You will see the gaps close as they get tighter and feel the right place to stop, knowing it's firm.
My wife and I have had friends over, finally, for lunch, dinner, and we've already had breakfast there. The counter height seating is awesome as we put extra chairs around our kitchen island and only bring them over when we need the extra seating. The bottom shelf is probably best for puzzles or other soft storage. Originally we thought some extra dishes, but that's where everyone's feet hang, so maybe not a good idea. Oh, one of the chairs actually needs a spot briefly sanded to make it not so rough in the distressed part. Everyone found the contour of the chairs to be very comfortable even after long periods of playing games on the table. They are deep enough, however that a pillow does fit nicely for back rest if needed.
Other than that, everything was shipped well, explained well, fit together well and we would definitely recommend getting this table.
